Case Study: Custom Software Development

Business Need:

A major southeast medical college provides clinical medical training for over 800 students across four campuses. The College wanted to make classroom lectures and medical examinations readily available to students, even if they were unable to attend classes or were not located on the main campus. If a student was sick and unable to attend class, the best they could do was to gather notes from colleagues. A huge part of the learning experience is visuals such as dissections, medical examinations and demos, which cannot be captured, in written notes.

Solution:

The College decided to offer a mobile web application that would allow students to get immediate access to all lectures on demand. This application
provides secure login, media content searching, media content access, content upload, and content tagging. In addition, these videos are encoded and
converted into formats such as WMV or QuickTime. Student usage is tracked in a history log with an intuitive user-centric media catalog. The catalog displays all of the video content available to a given user from which the user may select a title for viewing.
